The Suzuki Method and Diapason the Wizard are early music teaching methods. Diapason the Wizard is focused on learning musical language and ear training, while the Suzuki Method focuses on instrumental learning.

Both methods share pedagogical foundations and, moreover, they complement each other very well. Through their classroom work, both methods promote development across all areas: concentration, psychomotor skills, social skills, etc. Some characteristics common to both methods are:

      • Early start. (From 6 months with Diapason the Wizard and from 3 years with the Suzuki Method)
      • Daily musical listening
      • Parental involvement
      • A positive, enriching learning environment
      • High-quality teaching by trained (qualified) teachers
      • Learning through play, with enjoyable and playful activities
      • Social interaction with other children

The foundations of both methodologies are:

      1. LISTENING (a mental image is formed)
      2. IMITATION (trial-and-error)
      3. REPETITION (practice)

Young children learn to speak by listening and imitating. Through constant listening and observation of the people around them, children develop ‘mental maps’ of these specific tasks. When these mental images are required, they retrieve and use them while attempting to reach their performance goals. Through a process of trial-and-error, they make the necessary adjustments through repetition until they obtain the desired results. Stored mental images, imitation and repetition are the foundations of the process.

Many of our teachers are trained or are in training in an instrumental specialism at the
