María Martínez – Escuela Bambera – Vigo

Hello, I’m María Martínez, an early years educator and musician.

In 2009 I obtained the professional music diploma specialising in piano from the Conservatorio Superior de Vigo, and I completed the higher-level Early Childhood Education course (ciclo superior) at Colegio San José de la Guía in Vigo in 2013.

I love working, and from a young age I began teaching music in private schools, giving lessons to young children.

When I became an early years educator I wanted to combine my two passions, so I prepared a programme to teach music to young children: musical stimulation and musical expression.

I became self-employed that same year and expanded my training with courses in music therapy and the early detection of developmental disorders.

I began working in many childcare centres in Vigo: nurseries, children's leisure centres, play centres and neighbourhood associations. In 2015 I met Paqui Castro and fell in love with the musical method Diapason the Wizard.

I am trained in this wonderful method, which can teach music in a fun way to children from 12 months old. In 2016, together with my partner, we opened a music school in central Vigo to run music-based educational activities. It is called Bambera Escuela de Música.

Besides teaching classes at Bambera, in the mornings we teach music to young children at nurseries in Vigo such as Papaventos and Los Robles.

Currently I am training in the Suzuki method to teach piano to children from the age of 3. I balance all of this with being a mother. We have two young daughters who already love music as much as their parents do.
