About the school

Liceo La Paz

Liceo La Paz is a state-subsidised, coeducational, secular school, founded in 1967 by Mr Antonio Pintor Vidal and Mr Carlos Pérez Roca. It currently has 150 teachers and 2,100 students, who study from Early Years through to Bachillerato, as well as Vocational Training and Higher Level qualifications.
The teaching team, with specialised training for each educational stage, regularly attend refresher courses to provide the best possible education. Both academic and extracurricular activities take place in the Centre’s facilities in the Matogrande neighbourhood, which cover more than 20,000 square metres.

The Centre has been offering an educational system for over 50 years that seeks not only the intellectual development of its students but also their overall progress through its values, fostering creativity, a love of learning and student motivation.

Liceo La Paz’s educational model aims to combine rigorous monitoring of students’ learning and behaviour — encouraging and assessing their responsibility, effort and study and work habits — with respect for their freedom and the encouragement of participation, teamwork, creativity and the capacity for initiative, research, experimentation and innovation.

The result of these two elements is a recognised academic standard; the acquisition of core values for living in an open, participatory and democratic society; and a teacher–student relationship based, rather than on coercive discipline, on mutual trust.

The Centre does not abandon the values it set at its foundation but does so while incorporating the necessary improvements so that students learn to manage in contemporary life. For this reason, sport and the arts are also included in students’ education as essential complements.
