Experience and teaching approach
Early childhood music teacher of Diapason the Wizard and Suzuki viola and violin teacher. Music classes for babies; viola lessons. San Luis Potosí, Mexico.
Hello, I'm Laura Aguirre, originally from San Luis Potosí. I began my musical and viola studies at the Escuela de iniciación Musical Julian Carrillo.
I studied at the Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas with Maestro Ricardo Justiz. I have also taken lessons with Maestra Ana Catalina Ruelas, co‑principal of the OSX, and with Maestro Yuri Inti Bullón, principal of the OSX and viola professor at the Universidad Veracruzana.
I have collaborated on several children's orchestral projects such as Fundación Música para la Vida A.C., Orquesta Esperanza Azteca Coatepec, Orquesta Esperanza Azteca San Luis Potosí, and community ensembles within Fomento Nacional Musical. At the same time I give private violin and viola lessons.
I have over 12 years' experience teaching children.
I have collaborated with the Sociedad Mexicana de la Viola, where I had the opportunity to interview the Spanish violist Sara Ferrández. I knew she had begun her musical studies with the Diapason the Wizard Method, and thanks to that I was able to get in touch with her mother, Maestra Paqui Castro, with whom I had my first experience of this beautiful teaching system.
Today I am a Diapason the Wizard teacher and I am delighted to bring to my hometown a method that begins the development of absolute pitch in children at a very early age — not just musical stimulation. As the motto says: 'teaching music in a different way'.
I am immensely happy to provide the highest quality education at an age when children are most receptive, and what better way to do that than with the Diapason the Wizard Method and the viola (violin).
This year I am fulfilling a dream: to contribute to the pedagogical development of children's viola education in Mexico.
Today my life is divided between my music academy and the Orquesta Sinfónica de San Luis Potosí, where I teach Diapason the Wizard and Suzuki viola and violin, and I teach early music education at the colegio Casa y Taller Montessori of San Luis Potosí
